The enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 marked a seminal moment for our nation. It is a bedrock law that remains central to modern day civil rights and racial justice efforts. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident … that all … are created equal … [with] certain unalienable Rights. ^[1] This simple statement from the Declaration of Independence has always been at the heart of American democracy.

Black businesses, entrepreneurs, and professionals are under attack. Such a statement isn’t hyperbole. Nor is it a drastic declaration to grab a headline. Instead, this is simply the state of play for the assault on diversity, equity, and inclusion in Corporate America. 

Imagine having to ride an elevator in your workplace where you see etched in the walls the “N” word and a swastika. Imagine going to the bathroom at your workplace only to be met with an image of nooses, or even an actual noose hanging from a bathroom stall.
